NIMBA COUNTY — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency — LDEA has raided, seized, and arrested dozens of suspected persons with narcotics trafficking and smuggling substances in Ganta City, Nimba County.

LDEA-Ganta detachment arrested 17 drug dealers mostly youths for participating in and operating a narcotics trafficking and smuggling ghetto based in the St. John River avenue.

The one-day LDEA mission began Saturday and yielded multiple arrests and seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, kush, tramadol, and marijuana among others.

In addition to the arrests, some of the suspects apprehended during the operation were females forming part of the larger numbers of male dominants.

A team of other law enforcement agencies joined the LDEA operatives in Ganta to tackle drug dealing and other “livability” crimes, roving the city on foot, by bike, and in cars.

The large arrests marked the first time state securities in the county dispatched a team, arresting mass members of drug dealers who intake the substance.

Nearly 30 grams of narcotics substances were seized in the arrests, as well as smaller amounts of cocaine, marijuana, tramadol, and kush. Several other properties allegedly stolen were also recovered.

The successful operation stems from close collaboration between the LDEA and other law enforcement agencies, as well as support from community members who provided valuable tips and information leading to the apprehension of suspected drug dealers.

The mass arrest supports the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency’s decisive measure aimed at wagging the war on drug trafficking and smuggling in the Liberian communities.

It can be recalled in February 2024 the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency’s (LDEA) Boss, Abraham Kromah launched a citywide raid against suspected drug dealers across Liberia.

The LDEA boss, AB Kromah intensified efforts in combating narcotics trafficking, resulting in the recent arrest of several suspected drug dealers from various neighborhoods in Monrovia. Statistics show the number of drug-addicted youth in Liberia at over 250, 000.
