Grand Gedeh- Just three weeks into his term, Grand Gedeh County District 1 Representative, Jeremiah Sokan, has commenced a major community road rehabilitation project. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Zwedru, marks a crucial milestone in Sokan’s commitment to improving infrastructure within the district.

Sokan, who was certified as the district’s representative on May 15, 2024, after a decisive win in the April 21 by-election, has wasted no time in addressing one of the most pressing issues in the community—road accessibility. The project will enhance the road network from the Mandingo Mosque through Gbagbaville to the Army Barrack, aiming to improve transportation, boost local commerce, and provide easier access to essential services.

“Today, I’m proud to present this equipment to the district for the rehabilitation of our major community roads,” said Representative Sokan during the ceremony. “To make our district a great one, let us all work together to build a vibrant Tchien District.”

The event saw a strong turnout from community members and local leaders, who expressed their support and enthusiasm for the initiative. Superintendent Alex Grant lauded Sokan’s efforts, urging other lawmakers to follow suit for the progressive development of Grand Gedeh County. “What Hon. Sokan has done today is worth celebrating,” Grant remarked.

For many residents, the road grading project represents a long-awaited improvement. Local citizen Daniel Manyeah voiced his appreciation, stating, “That’s why we voted for him, and he will not disappoint us.” Another resident, hopeful for better conditions, said, “We are happy because the road leading to my house is really deplorable. With the arrival of the machines, I’m hopeful my house road will be rehabilitated.”

This initiative is part of Sokan’s broader 100 Days Deliverables, a commitment to address critical infrastructure needs within the first hundred days of his term. The project underscores his dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Grand Gedeh County through vital infrastructural improvements.

“The road grading from the Mandingo Mosque through Gbagbaville to the Army Barrack is just the beginning,” Sokan emphasized. “Improved infrastructure is foundational to the economic and social growth of our community.”

The road grading project, once completed, is anticipated to bring numerous benefits to the district. It reflects Sokan’s proactive approach and his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. As Grand Gedeh County embarks on this new chapter of development, the road grading project stands as a beacon of progress and hope for a brighter future.

Citizens are optimistic that this project will be the first of many infrastructural improvements, setting the stage for sustained development and improved living standards across the district.
