Liberia’s 25th president Joseph Nyumah Boakai has expressed his desire to have the “Liberia-America” partnership elevate Liberia as a country, rather than directly impact the people. He said it is about time that the partnership with the US brings relief and satisfaction to all who have invested in it.

“My expectation is that this relationship should be a period of honesty, respect, transparency, equity, and probity. This would be a time that the fruits of our partnership go to directly and positively impact the conditions of our people and elevate the image of our country.”

Delivering a remark over the week at the gathering on the heels of the 248th Independence Anniversary of the great United States, the Liberian leader with much pride conveyed to Liberia’s traditional ally and friend warm and special greetings of congratulations from the grateful people of my country, noting that it is his administration determination to ensure that Liberia does not indulge in business as usual.

“This is the hope, dream, and prayer of our nation. We have more than forcefully sounded our determination to ensure that we do not indulge in business as usual. We pledge to lead by example and to ensure that the use of the products of our partnership brings relief and satisfaction to all who have invested in it.”

President Boakai intimated that Liberia’s arms are wide open to embrace the new era of productive and mutually beneficial relationships with the Americas.

“Therefore once more proclaim that our arms are wide open to embrace this new era of productive and mutually beneficial relationship with you, our traditional ally. We join you as you savor your moment of clocking 248 years of existence in a viable and exemplary Republic.”

Meanwhile, the Liberian Leader on behalf of Liberia extended to the great people of the United States of America, the sincerest of good wishes for success in all of your endeavors, regionally, continentally, and globally.

He lauded the government and people of America for their support to Liberia, but maintained a call for a more fruitful relationship, at the same time re-echoing Liberia’s commitment to further deepening and strengthening the diplomatic relationship.

“We cannot sound enough our gratitude for the long, helpful, rewarding, and promising relationship that has subsisted between Liberia and the United States from the founding of our Republic. We take this occasion to reiterate our commitment to further deepening and strengthening our relationship.”

He added that from day one of the ushering in of his Administration, he came to view the moment as a golden opportunity for the opening of a new and clean chapter in the Liberia-America relationship.
