NIMBA COUNTY — The General Services Agency (GSA) of Liberia, Nimba County Coordinator, Amos Dougbah has clarified that he did not sell any essential parts of demolished buildings materials including irons, zinc, and containers from the superintendent compound.
It can be recalled over the weekend the Government of Liberia and Bangladesh’s old apartment structures which hosted hundreds of homeless people and some government agencies in Sanniquellie City were been demolished after years of unusefulness.
The major demolitions of the old structures at the superintendent compound took place for two days, Friday and Saturday.
The breaking down of old government structures followed after a significant eviction of several unauthorized people including some government agency employees occupying the area were asked to vacate by Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono.
At the demolition site over the weekend, several sons and daughters of Nimba troops in to take away needed materials.
Some who refused to be named told our reporters on the demolition ground and provided video evidence against the GSA Nimba Coordinator linking him to selling zinc, irons among others to them.
They said despite Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono’s order “Give it free to citizens’ interested”, the Nimba County Coordinator of the General Services Agency (GSA) of Liberia, Amos Dougbah allegedly sold hundreds and thousands of United States Dollars worth of essential parts of demolished buildings materials without credible accountability after the superintendent free declaration order.
But speaking to the media Tuesday (July 16) at his office in Sanniquellie, Mr. Dougbah denied all allegations against him, noting that his accusers’ arguments are baseless and should not be given listening ears.
GSA-Dougbah also said that their statements regarding the superintendent’s order “Give it free to citizens interested” lack the basis of truth, saying at no point in time did the superintendent make such a sale waiver declaration statement.
He further maintained that under his watchful eyes on the demolition site after being recommended by the county’s president to exercise his GSA role, he was shocked to see citizens’ troops in the compound, forcefully demolished and looted government’s properties.
GSA-Nimba County Coordinator, Amos Dougbah named ordinary inhabitants of Sanniquellie, employees of the County Administration, and state securities as key looters.
Mr. Dougbah stressed that to save his good name, he backed off his monitoring and supervision role to take inventory of those government properties, but began video recording looters for any eventuality if the need arose.
He concluded that as a youthful public servant who has served the agency over the years, he has no record of malpractices and corrupt character, adding that he is committed and focused on doing the needful with diligence.
He at the same time warned citizens, especially his accusers involvement in hypocrisy which has the propensity to destroy him to desist, stating that as a true son of the country he does no wrong to serve his people.
