-Amidst Cllr. Scott and GoL Murder Case Final Verdict

The Supreme Court of Liberia has fined Liberia’s Solicitor General, Cllr. Augustine C. Fayiah, and Justice Minister N. Oswald Tweh for their absence during a crucial ruling in the high-profile murder case involving former Chief Justice Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott. Fayiah has been fined $100, while Tweh faces a $200 penalty, both to be paid into the government revenue account within seventy-two hours.
On December 21, 2023, a jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict against Cllr. Scott and her family members—Alice C. Johnson, Gertrude Newtown, and Rebecca Wisner—were convicted of Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and Making False Statements to Law Enforcement.
Criminal Court A Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie sentenced the former Chief Justice and her relatives to life imprisonment following a tragic incident on February 22, 2023, which resulted in the death of Charloe Musu, Cllr. Scott’s niece, at her residence in Brewerville.
As the full bench of the Supreme Court, presided over by Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Youh, prepares to deliver a final ruling, the fate of Cllr. Scott hangs in the balance.
However, the former Chief Justice is not present at the final ruling today but the Court’s decision will determine whether she remains incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison, where she has been held for several months, serving her life sentence or set free.
