Refutes bribery allegation

Lofa County, Liberia – Julie Fatorma Wiah, Representative for District #2 in Lofa County, emphasizes her commitment to the resolution that seeks to remove House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa and refutes reports of being financially induced.

Wiah’s endorsement of the resolution to remove Speaker Koffahas drawn significant attention, particularly in light of allegations of financial inducement and misconduct. In her statement, she made it clear that her decision was not influenced by any form of personal gain. “I want to unequivocally state that I did endorse the resolution calling for the Speaker’s removal, not because of any form of financial gain or gifts,” she asserted. “My decision was based purely on my commitment to upholding the principles of good governance and accountability.”

The Representative emphasized that the leadership of the Speaker should serve the best interests of all Liberians, especially during these challenging economic times. “I firmly believe that the leadership provided by the Speaker should benefit all Liberian people,” she said, underscoring the need for effective governance.

Despite having been part of the core team that initially supported Koffa’s candidacy, Wiah has not hesitated to voice her concerns regarding his leadership. She has consistently advocated for transparency, accountability, and the prudent management of state resources. “Regrettably, my efforts to address these issues with the Speaker have not yielded the desired results,” she lamented.

In her statement, Wiah highlighted the importance of maintaining integrity and conviction in public service. “As individuals who have built our reputation on integrity and conviction, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the interests of the people, free from external influences,” she noted. The recent controversies surrounding the Speaker’s conduct, she argued, have raised serious doubts about the collective reputation and influence of the legislative body.

Representative Wiah expressed disappointment over the lack of responsiveness from party leaders regarding these critical issues, stating, “It is disheartening that despite reaching out to party leaders regarding these critical matters, our concerns were largely ignored until now.” This perceived hypocrisy in governance, she asserted, reinforces the necessity of standing firm on principles and duties.

She expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her by the electorate while firmly reiterating her commitment to the resolution calling for the removal of Speaker J. Fonati Koffa. This announcement comes amid growing controversies and allegations surrounding the Speaker’s conduct within the House of Representatives.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to every one of you for entrusting me with the responsibility of representing our district,” Wiahstated. “I want to assure you that I take this mandate very seriously and will defend it with utmost dedication until my last days on earth. Rest assured that my integrity remains unblemished.”

Representative Julie Fatorma Wiah reiterated her unwavering commitment to her constituents. “I reiterate my unwavering commitment to serving you, the people of District #2, LofaCounty, with honesty and dedication,” she concluded. Her resolute stance on the matter reflects a broader call for accountability and integrity within Liberia’s political landscape, as the nation grapples with pressing governance challenges.
