The President of the Association of Judicial Reporters of Liberia, Natasha Yassah Wright, has urged young women to be changer-makers by making use of professional knowledge. She charged young women to use skill training to develop themselves and the country. “Use your skills wisely and develop yourself and your country. Graduates, as you walk through the walls of this vocational school today, let me encourage you to fully make use of the knowledge given to you after months of training.”

Speaking to a group of emerging professional young women, she stated that for a nation to develop, women must develop a strong mindset and a clear vision of transforming ideas into businesses and success for the betterment of family and country. Ms. Wright further admonished young women not to sit on their skills and complain that the government is not providing needed resources to start a small business to survive.

She added that for greatness to be achieved, one must make all the needed sacrifices. “Be aware that for you to achieve greatness, you must make all of the sacrifices yourself because if you can’t be brave enough to step forward, nobody will help you. As the saying goes, if you don’t wash your front, nobody will wash your back. Even if it is small, start it and have a mindset of growth and development.”

“Think big, don’t have a small mindset of just acquiring this skill maybe in baking or catering to sell doughnuts in buckets in the streets of Monrovia or operate a cook shop we commonly refer to as lappa be a door. Imagine yourself being an owner of a bakery and a renowned restaurant. Yes, your beginning will be very small, but make sure your ending is big.” She motivated the graduates.

In continuation, the president of the judicial reporters added that women have set a great example for other women to follow by empowering themselves to gain their place in society.

“Women have set a great example for other women to follow by empowering themselves to gain their place in society. Let me encourage all of you to set goals of what you want to achieve in your profession as caterers.” She added women are already faced with huge challenges in a society where people think they should be limited to certain things and restrict them to just taking care of homes.

However, it is stated that with skills, women explore and contribute to the upkeep of family and society. “We women are already faced with huge challenges in a society where people think we should be limited to certain things and restrict us to just taking care of homes. With this new skill you have acquired, use it to explore and contribute to the upkeep of your house.”

She concluded by asserting that for women to be recognized in society, they must not leave responsibility to their male counterparts but rather use the necessary skills to gain their rightful status in family and society: “Put your skills into practice as a woman, don’t always leave all to the men because for the man to respect and give you your rightful space in society, you as a woman he has to see your productivity.”
