The Public Affairs Committee, in coordination with the protocol overseeing funeral itineraries, has announced the official schedule for the funeral and burial of the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson. The events are set to honor the legacy of a prominent figure in Liberian politics and community service.

Schedule of Events Leading to Burial: Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM, the body of Senator Johnson will be removed from Samuel Stryker Funeral Home in Monrovia. An official escort, including the Vice President and Senators, will accompany the body to the Capitol Building, where it will lie in state for several hours. This time will allow national leaders, dignitaries, and the public to pay their respects and honor Senator Johnson’s significant contributions to Liberia and Nimba County.

At 5:00 PM, following the tribute at the Capitol, the body will be escorted to Christ Chapel of Faith Church, where Senator Johnson served as General Overseer. A night of wake-keeping will take place, providing an opportunity for spiritual reflection and celebration of his religious contributions.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 AM: the funeral procession will begin its journey to Nimba County, with a brief stop in Sanniquellie for a three-hour tribute ceremony. Local leaders, residents, and well-wishers will gather to express their gratitude and bid their final farewells.

After the Sanniquellie ceremony, the procession will continue to Karnplay City for another wake-keeping and tribute event, followed by an additional tribute in Saclepea City, allowing residents of lower Nimba and surrounding areas to honor their late Senator.

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Public Viewing at GompaFootball Field: A final public viewing will be held at GompaFootball Field. Supporters, admirers, and residents of Nimba are invited to gather and reflect on Senator Johnson’s legacy and his numerous contributions to the county and the nation.

On Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM: the grand funeral service will take place at the PYJ University Auditorium. The service will feature prayers, eulogies, and tributes that highlight Senator Johnson’s achievements in public service, religious ministry, and community development. 

Following the service, a solemn ceremony will be held for the interment of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, marking the conclusion of a life dedicated to the service of his people.

The Public Affairs Committee encourages all citizens and well-wishers to participate in these events to honor the life and legacy of the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson.
