-For Driving into Fargo Nightclub Crowd Recklessly

A Liberian woman, Princess Leiyipei Gweh, 25, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for driving her vehicle into a crowd at the now-closed Cairo Restaurant and Bar in Fargo, injuring three people.

The February 2024 incident followed an argument and a fistfight outside the nightclub, INFORUM reported. Gwen pleaded guilty in Cass County District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 7, to two counts of aggravated assault and one charge of reckless endangerment, as part of a plea deal that reduced her charges.

According to court documents, Gweh drove toward the crowd in the parking lot, hitting three individuals, one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries. Others had to run to avoid being struck.

In court, Gweh tearfully apologized to her victims and family, taking full responsibility for her actions. “I chose to drink liquor, and I chose to drive my car,” she said.

Two of the victims attended the sentencing but did not address the court. Gweh’s attorney described the plea deal as “reasonable and just.”
