NIMBA COUNTY:- The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has announced about 60 slots on the 2025 National Cadet program for youths of Nimba County.
The program is designed to help young people find jobs and build their careers. It is supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP); intended to reduce poverty and inequality in Liberia.
The National Cadet Program, which was established on June 11, 1986, by former President Samuel Kanyon Doe, is among other things geared towards empowering Liberians especially youth and graduating senior students.
The targeted beneficiaries will be placed into public and private institutions to acquire relevant job experience for possible employment.
Appearing recently on the Wake-up Nimba morning breakfast show on Radio Nimba, Amb. William S. Mandein, Nimba County Coordinator of the Ministry of Youth and Sports said 60 youths from Nimba County will apply through a portal that is being monitored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and partners.
He added the successful candidates after vetting and screaming processes, successful candidates will be incorporated into various institutions and organizations for possible job opportunities.
Mr. Mandein is calling on young citizens of Nimba to take advantage of the process, especially university and college graduates for short or long-term job attainment.
According to him, the National Cadet program is an initiative intended only to support and prepare young people for the future job market.
The cadet program is a three-month initiative designed to recruit young graduates and graduating seniors from various universities and vocational Institutions. About 140 persons are expected to benefit.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sport has meanwhile encouraged all youth within Nimba County to take advantage of this national initiative and apply to benefit from this national endeavor,” the Nimba Coordinator said.
According to him, the program is intended to train and develop potential youth to add value to their professional expertise. The cadet program will take place in Grand Bassa, Nimba, Lofa, and Montserrado Counties.
