With almost a year down, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration will today, January 15, 2025, launch its US$8.4 Billion ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, where he (President Boakai) will unveil the initiative to the public.

This government came to power with assurance through the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), a development plan that outlines an integrated approach to development that emphasizes the country’s core priorities, focusing on Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation & Health, and Tourism for all Liberians, particularly the most marginalized and vulnerable communities.

Ngafuan Opens up

The Ministry of Finance Development and Planning (MFDF) has announced a comprehensive US$8.4 billion investment plan aimed at implementing the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) over the next five years under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration. This ambitious national development initiative is designed to foster growth and enhance development across Liberia.

The AAID plan is structured into six key categories: Economic Transformation, Rule of Law, Education, Infrastructure Development, Governance and Anti-Corruption, Environmental Transformation, and Human Capital Development. These categories are intended to address the multifaceted challenges facing the nation and promote sustainable progress.

During the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) regular press conference, Finance Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan emphasized the collaborative approach necessary for the plan’s success, highlighting that funding will be sourced from international partners, government agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

In conjunction with the national development plan, the MFDF will also introduce a regional development plan aimed at empowering counties to achieve their developmental agendas. Minister Ngafuan

noted the creation of 15 county development agendas, which will complement the overarching national strategy.

He stated, “Every country needs a strategic development plan to achieve its goals. The government of Liberia will leverage the AAID Plan to meet its objectives over the next five years.”

Moreover, Minister Ngafuan highlighted the importance of internal partnerships, indicating that local stakeholders are actively preparing their financial support strategies to align with the AAID Plan’s goals. With this multi-faceted approach, the Liberian government says it aims to create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all citizens.
