Nimba County, Liberia – A 30-year-old woman, Patience Mantor of Moses Village in Gar-Zuluyee Town, has been arrested by the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in Nimba County following a raid that uncovered more than 67 wraps of marijuana in her possession. The arrest was made pursuant to a search and seizure warrant issued by the Gompa Magisterial Court on February 20, 2025.

The operation was launched after residents of Moses Village raised concerns about Mantor’s alleged involvement in the possession and distribution of marijuana. Acting on the court’s directive, LDEA officers conducted a thorough search of her residence, where they discovered the illicit substance sealed in bags. The seized marijuana has an estimated street value of $43,385.00 in Liberian dollars.

“The court order was issued following credible information from the community about the suspect’s activities. During the raid, we found a significant quantity of marijuana in her possession,” an LDEA spokesperson stated.

Community Involvement

The arrest highlights the critical role of community members in combating drug-related activities. Residents of Moses Village reportedly alerted authorities to Mantor’s alleged involvement in the drug trade, prompting the investigation and subsequent raid. This collaboration between the public and law enforcement underscores the importance of community vigilance in addressing illegal drug activities.

Patience Mantor is currently in LDEA custody, where she is undergoing further investigation. She is expected to be charged with possession and distribution of illegal substances, offenses that carry severe penalties under Liberian law. The case will be forwarded to the Gompa Magisterial Court for prosecution.

The arrest is part of the LDEA’s ongoing efforts to crack down on drug trafficking and abuse in Nimba County and across Liberia. The seizure of such a large quantity of marijuana underscores the prevalence of illegal drug activities in the region and the need for sustained enforcement efforts.

“This arrest sends a strong message to those involved in the illegal drug trade. The LDEA is committed to ensuring that those who violate the law face the full consequences of their actions,” the LDEA spokesperson added.

The LDEA has called on citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. *“We urge the public to continue working with us to rid our communities of illegal drugs. Together, we can create a safer and healthier environment for everyone,”* the spokesperson emphasized.
