Paynesville, Liberia –The lifeless body of a young man was discovered early this morning in a drainage near the entrance of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex (SKD) in Paynesville, marking the latest in a series of unsettling and mysterious deaths.

According to witnesses, the young man was seen sitting near the same spot the day before, visibly trembling while playing nearby. “I saw him here yesterday, shaking and looking unwell. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now it’s heartbreaking to see him like this,” a bystander recounted.

The body remains at the scene as passersby and onlookers gather, many attempting to identify the deceased.

A Pattern of Mysterious Deaths

This pathetic discovery adds to a growing list of mysterious and violent incidents that have plagued Paynesville and other parts of Liberia in recent months.

Last month, a 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in Brewerville during a dispute over change. In January, the brutal murder of 8-year-old Siah John sent shockwaves through the community. Her body was discovered in an unfinished building behind Kintoma Hill, bearing multiple injuries and signs of mutilation. Musu P. Kanneh, a 20-year-old woman, has since been charged in connection with the crime.

In Voinjama City, a 45-year-old woman known as “Yarmah” was found mutilated under similar circumstances, further heightening fears of a pattern of violence. Meanwhile, in Brewerville, the Liberia National Police (LNP) investigated the murder of Angel T. Weah, a pregnant teenager whose body was discovered in an unfinished building. Her boyfriend, Samuel Brown, aka Boi Cracky, confessed to involvement in her death and claimed to have had accomplices.

Violence Within Families and Institutions

The violence has also infiltrated families and institutions. In Paynesville, a Liberian woman recently killed her three-year-old daughter, while local businessman Hassan Jalloh was allegedly murdered by members of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in Redlight. Despite widespread outrage, no prosecutions have been made in Jalloh’s case.

Adding to the grim tally, a 19-year-old murder suspect was found dead in a local police cell under suspicious circumstances, raising questions about the safety and accountability of law enforcement institutions.
