NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA — A group of women in Nimba County under the banner “NIMBA KWAKEH,” has honored the County Administration led by Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono for for its administrative and developmental role in the county.

Women in the county gathered together on Friday, March 1, 2025, in Sanniquellie City to commit to celebrating and supporting the county superintendent’s role in leadership. 

The women’s group honors the contributions, resilience, and achievements of Supt. Gono’s leadership since assuming power as superintendent of the county in 2024 February.

Held at the Superintendent Compound, this day was marked with a vibrant celebration that reflected the superintendent’s shared commitment to transformative development in the community.

The landmark recognition and appreciation ceremony recorded a history since 1964 the county was established. The women paraded and presented gifts, including food and non-food items, gowning Superintendent Gono in a spirit of motivation and empowering her leadership to continue to develop and improve their community and livelihood.

They celebrated the outstanding leadership and achievements demonstrated by Supt. Gono that are reflected by the distinct innovations and initiatives in public service.

The women’s organization “NIMBA KWAKEH” said it recognizes and appreciates the profound role played by Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono as a leader, and decision-maker, in shaping the future of the county and country.

The group headed by Mrs. Grace Tomah Barry emphasized that the superintendent embodies the qualities of leadership in displaying active, creative, and integrative efforts in achieving the best possible results in the county development plans.

Mrs. Barry highlighted the significance of the honoring ceremony by reflecting on the inspiring journey of Supt. Gono. “The story of the superintendent is one of resilience, selfless contribution, and boundless inspiration. It’s a story that resonates not just within our county, but also around the country, highlighting women who are deeply rooted in their traditions while boldly embracing the future.”

Mrs. Grace Tomah Barry further emphasized the vital role of the current Nimba County Administration in national development. “Thanks to President Joseph Boakai Administration’s support to appoint Superintendent Gono and co-workers to serve the county.” 

 According to Mrs. Barry, their contributions are shaping the county, and their influence extends far beyond borders as they continue to break new ground and set the stage for the future. “As we celebrate the county administration, we honor their achievements and look forward to a future where their contributions continue to inspire and elevate society, laying a strong foundation for generations to come,” she stated.

The Honoree vows to champion development and unity. Meanwhile, the honoree of the day, Superintendent Gono Meapeh Gono has vowed to ensure the county’s development agenda is realized.

She observed that many development projects meant to benefit thousands of Nimbains have flopped after allocated funds were misappropriated by greedy leaders over the years.

She said that as a female leader, she will not sit back and watch public funds be misappropriated, noting that she is at the forefront of fighting corruption.

Supt. Gono noted that public funds will be channeled to projects that will uplift Nimbaians who pay taxes to the government.

She reiterated that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is working hard to leave a better legacy and thus as a female leader she will support him to achieve his development agenda at the level of the county.

During the occasion, Supt. Gono shared her strategies for building resilience and encouraged each other to persevere in pursuing her development goals.
