Beijing, China: Liberia is fully and adequately represented on the global stage by the New Dawn Newspaper Diplomatic and Senate Reporter, Lincoln G. Peters at the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) four-month media exchange program ongoing in Beijing, China.

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) through the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) officially commenced activities and project presentations for over fifty-five journalists from across Africa who are participating in a four-month media exchange and capacity building training.

The CIPCC under the CPDA initiated the initiative to build the platform for the media from countries around the world, mostly developing countries to observe China and get an in-depth understanding of the development of China.

Furthermore, the exchange program seeks to familiarize journalists from around the world with modern China and exchange their expectations in the field of journalism.

The CIPCC has provided accommodation in the Diplomatic Residence Compound at the heart of the Capitol and other necessary aids and support for the participating journalists.
During the program, participating journalists will benefit from lectures on China’s socio-economic development, diplomacy, science and technology, and culture as well as the two major political systems or two sessions of China, namely the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and other related fields.

Also, CPCC will organize a symposium with government departments, enterprises, and think tank organizations and organize visits to selected provinces and arrange training on journalism and internship in Chinese media, organize media coverage of major domestic and diplomatic events in China, to enhance the understanding of journalists about China.

The program which runs from March to July 11, 2025, witnessed the arrival of the first batch of 55 participants of one hundred twenty late February from hundred plus countries from its six regional communication centers.

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, journalists participating in the media exchange program gathered in a closed-door meeting in the multi-functional Hall on the 2nd floor of Building 15 to get a briefing presentation on the upcoming activities, doe and don’ts of China and the two sessions of the China Political System. The closed-door meeting was chaired by CPCC Director, Yu Lei and graced by several staff and volunteers of the institution.

Providing updates and briefing to the participants concerning the program engagements and purpose, CPCC Director, Yu Lei expressed excitement and appreciation regarding the safe arrival of journalists participating, while admonishing them to abide by the rules and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and explore what he described as ‘’develop’’ china.

According to him, CPCC will provide the necessary avenue for participant journalists to cover the two sessions of the China Political System, adding that CPCC is over ten years old and has expanded in size, and grown from a regional press center to a global one.

He told the participants that they will officially begin the program on March 4, 2025, with coverage of the two political sessions of China, namely the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which constitute the 14th opening session of the NPC and CPPCC.

‘’For and on behalf of the CPCC, I like to welcome you to the People’s Republic of China. I know that you are already enjoying your stay in China. However, urge that you abide by the rules and regulations of China. This is about fostering mutual understanding between China and the International Community’’ he concluded.

For his part, Lincoln G. Peters, the New Dawn Newspaper, one of Liberia’s most investigative newspapers extolled the People’s Republic of China through its Embassy in Liberia for the support and opportunity.

Peters at the same time expressed gratitude to the Managing Editor of the New Dawn Newspaper, Mr. Othello B. Garblah, the New Editor Mr. Jonathan Brown, and the entire News Department for granting him the opportunity to represent Liberia, while appreciating their dedication and commitment to uplifting the bilateral relationship between Liberia and China.

‘’ I want to extoll the People’s Republic of China through its Embassy in Liberia headed by H.E Ambassador Yin Chengwu for the opportunity and support. I have covered the Embassy for approximately seven years and this is the first time for me to be given such an opportunity. I want them to know that I take this very seriously and I will become an ambassador of China by telling the untold story’’ he noted.
