-As African continent factors in CPPCC development drive

The People’s Republic of China through the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) which represents a major achievement of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has assured effective and prompt implementation of the 2025 consultative Plan, which captured enhanced collaboration and benefits for the African continent.
The opening meeting of the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The CPPCC is China’s top political advisory body.
The program was graced by the Chinese leader, President Xi Jinping, and other leaders of the country and witnessed and covered by several local and international journalists, including the fifty-five journalists under the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) who are currently benefiting from the four months media exchange program.
During the occasion, the agenda for the session was reviewed and approved. Mr. Wang Huning, Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee delivered the work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.
The “two sessions” are the annual meetings of China’s top legislature, the National People’s Congress (NPC), and the top political advisory body, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Both bodies serve five-year terms and hold a plenary session each year.
The NPC is the highest state organ of power. That means in addition to its duty as the top legislature, it wields the power to elect national leaders and approve government budgets and national development plans, among others.
The CPPCC serves as an important institution of CPC-led multiparty cooperation and political consultation. It is a specialist consultative body in China’s whole-process people’s democracy. Its members advise on major national policies and key issues spanning economic, political, cultural, social, and ecological development.
The annual sessions of these two bodies usually run in parallel and take place around the same time, which is why they are collectively known as the “two sessions.” This year, the sessions of the NPC and the CPPCC National Committee opened on March 4, while the CPC opens today, March 5, 2025. respectively.
Reading the report on the work of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the CPPCC Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the third Session of the 14th CPPCC, Wang Huning, a member of the CPPCC expressed excitement on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and presented the report on their work for deliberation.
Reflecting briefly, he said that the year 2024 marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and It was also a crucial year for fulfilling the goals and tasks outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) of China.
He further indicated that the CIC Central Committee with President Xi Jinping at its core rallied and led the entire Party and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in calmly responding to new developments and implementing policies with a holistic and systematic approach.
“Major Tasks for 2025 this year is the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and it is also a pivotal year for further deepening reform comprehensively. We will effectively implement the 2025 CPPCC consultation plan approved by the CPC Central Committee. In this regard, we will carry out in-depth consultations and deliberations, and work to offer suggestions that are forward-looking, targeted, and practical. In doing so, we will better facilitate sound decision-making and effective implementation of policies through high-quality consultation and insightful proposals” Mr. Wang disclosed.
Accordingly, he stated that they will leverage the strengths of consultative oversight to promote the implementation of the CPC Central Committee’s major decisions and plans.
He further indicated that this year, they will participate in deliberation and propose suggestions on state affairs in close relation to advancing Chinese modernization.
The CPPCC members assured that serving the advancement of Chinese modernization will be the main task of other work.
“Focusing on the concerns of the CPC Central Committee and the general public, we will carry out extensive fact-finding and research activities on major strategic issues with a bearing on national economic and social development to provide the CPC Central Committee with forthright counsel and sensible suggestions for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan” he concluded.
