- Minister Wlue Heeds to Chairman Morlu’s pressure, withdraws Dillon Appointment
The Minister of Transport Mr. Samuel Wlue has with immediate effect, withdrawn the appointment of Oliver Dillon as the Director of Port and Border Entry at the Ministry of Transport.
Minister Wlue writes: “Pursuant your letter of reassignment as Director of Border and Port Entry, Ministry of Transport, Dated March 11, 2021, with reference SAW/M-1/MOT/RL/22/21, I herewith withdraw your appointment to the position with immediate effect. In view of the above, kindly be informed that this communication supersedes all other previous communications”.
Minister Wlue’s decision to withdraw Dillon’s appointment follows barely 24hrs after the Chairman of the Ruling Coalition of Democratic Change (CDC), Mulbah Morlu condemned Minister Samuel Wlue for appointing Mr. Oliver Dillon to the position instead of a member of the ruling coalition. Oliver Dillon is the younger brother of Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado, who is from the opposition Liberty Party and a strong critic of President Weah’s Administration.
Senator Dillon criticizes CDC administration for wastage in government, poor governance and corruption. Sen. Dillon’s younger brother, Oliver is a civil servant at the Ministry of Transport who previously served the position of Director of Decentralization from former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s administration before he was later relieved of his post when accused of murder. Mr. Oliver Dillon reassumed worked later last year when the Circuit Court of Margibi County came down with Non-Guilty Verdict. According to the Civil Servant Standing Order, Mr. Dillon should have been allowed to take his previous post as Director of Decentralization, perhaps, a driving rationale behind Minister Wlue’s decision.
The opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) came under serious criticism when it was discovered in its collaborating document that a clause stated that only members of either of the four or constituent parties would qualify for job placement in government were CPP to win 2023 or future elections.
However, the constitution of the Republic of Liberia gives every Liberian the right of equal opportunity to work for government despite of any affiliation, whether political, religious or ethnicity.
According to a reliable source, since the pronouncement of CDC Chairman Morlu, Mr. Oliver Dillon has received several calls and text messages of threats from unknown numbers. Mr. Dillon is complaining of insecurity, our source said.
