MONROVIA, Liberia – Angeline Mamie Worloh Koon, the estranged wife of Liberia’s “Majority Bloc”  Speaker Richard N. Koon, has filed a lawsuit for divorce, while also accusing him of serial infidelity, domestic cruelty, and bigamy.

The explosive 3-page court filing, obtained by this publication, depicts a marriage shattered by power and betrayal. Mrs. Koon claims their union was harmonious until 2018 when her husband became a District #11 Representative. She alleges he grew “quarrelsome, violent, and cruel” while engaging in affairs with two women—Christiana Belloh Tue and Gifty Faikai.

Koon along with his group (the Majority Bloc) has also been in court for months over what embattled Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa and his minority members see as a hijack of the House of Representatives Leadership and other unorthodox actions that favor Koon who was “fraudulently” elected as Speaker in November last year.  The Supreme Court is set to deliver a ruling today.

More of the lawsuit:

The recent lawsuit delivers a stunning revelation: Koon allegedly fathered a child with Faikai in the U.S. Immigration records submitted as evidence list the child’s birthdate as December 1, 2022.  But the most damning accusation? Christiana Belloh Tue reportedly filed a 2021 U.S. citizenship petition (Form I-130), claiming to be Koon’s “legally married wife”—while he remained wed to Mrs. Koon.

The petition was denied after U.S. authorities uncovered the alleged fraud. “The Defendant and Madam Tue should be criminally liable for bigamy, polygamy, forgery,” the lawsuit states. Despite Koon’s political clout, his wife claims he abandoned her financially. She alleges he refused spousal support, withheld two Maryland duplexes promised in a notarized agreement, and left her “enslaved in a web of destruction”.

“The grave threat to her life cannot allow her to remain,” the filing warns, describing her mental and physical health as under siege.  The scandal erupts just as Liberia’s Supreme Court prepares to rule Wednesday (April 24) on a challenge to Koon’s contested election as Speaker. Speaker Koon’s office has not responded to requests for comment. Legal experts predict the Civil Law Court will expedite the case given its explosive allegations.

The birth:

Late last month, Majority Bloc Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon’s wife of 25 years filed a lawsuit demanding transparency over their joint properties, while his controversial leadership faces mounting political and judicial scrutiny.  Madam Angeline Mamie Worloh Koon, filed a petition before the Commercial Court of Montserrado County, demanding a full accounting of income from their jointly owned rental properties.

According to court documents, the couple acquired land in the Unity Conference Central, Hotel Africa Road community in 2004 and constructed five duplexes (ten apartments) in 2005. The properties were leased out beginning in 2007, with an initial reported income of $5,110 USD. However, Madam Koon alleges that her husband has withheld financial updates for the past 19 years, excluding her from all management decisions.

In her petition, she claims Koon has failed to disclose rental income since 2007.  He has solely controlled the properties without her input. The apartments are occupied by tenants without her knowledge.

The buildings have deteriorated due to poor maintenance.

The couple, married for 25 years, jointly invested in the properties as part of their shared assets. Madam Koon’s legal action highlights growing tensions over financial transparency within high-profile marriages.
