The Government through its Chief Administrator, President Joseph Nyumah Boakai on Thursday, April 24, 2025 signed the Book of Condolences For fallen Pope of the Roman Catholic Church – Jorge Mario Bergoglio, formally Pope Francis.
President Boakai signing the Book of Condolences described Pope Francis as a blessing to the world who was very concerned about humanity; concerned about the world. “He was a blessing to the world who was very concerned about humanity; and concerned about the welfare of the people.”
The President recalled that during his visit to the Vatican, he and Pope Francis discussed the advancement of the world through AI and how it has impacted the world. “We even talked about AI and its impact on the world. He told me that it was one of the many authorities that God has given to man to advance the world.”
The Liberian leader continued by intimating Pope Francis during his lifetime and was also concerned about how the war around can be brought to the world for a universal peace to reign. “We talked about how peace can be brought to the world and how the war in the Middle East and other parts of the world can be brought to an end so that all may experience peace.” President Boakai remembered

Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on December 17, 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, served as the 266th pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He was elected on March 13, 2013, following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, becoming the first Jesuit, the first pope from the Americas, and the first non-European pope in over a millennium.
