Monrovia: In the wake of mustering effort to improve the Agricultural Sector, the Liberia Poultry Federation has commenced a two day stakeholders consultative review process of its draft policy.

The National Poultry Policy was crafted in 2018 by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through the Ministry of Agriculture with support from USAID. The document is expected to be validated by the government of Liberia in the coming days.

Before the validation, farmers and agriculturists from the 15 Counties of Liberia gathered today to review the policy and make inputs, suggestions, inquiries and recommendations. It is meant to recognize the gains, cost and value chain of the policy to farmers in Liberia.

The process is being led by a consultancy firm (NEXTIER) for proper interpretation.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Joseph N.Kodah Sr., President of the Liberia Poultry Federation highlighted the importance of the event. According to Mr. Kodah, the document revision will provide an atmosphere for beneficiaries to better understand the document and see it’s contribution to their businesses.
“Since they drafted this document we have not reviewed it to know what exactly is in it for us. So, this meeting now gives us the opportunity to learn the policy and provide our feedback because we are the direct beneficiaries of it”

Mr. Kodah at the opening ceremony encouraged participants to keenly follow the sessions and asked questions where necessary.
The activity taking place at Shark’s on Airfield Road will run from April 24-25,2025. The Ministry of Agriculture is part of the review process.
