Liberia Crusaders for Peace, on Wednesday, 4 August, at a colorful ceremony, honored outgoing Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Wetterqvist.

The program, which was graced by several high-profile guests and representatives of numerous women groupings, was held at the Crusaders for Peace Central Monrovia Headquarters.

Crusaders for PeaceExecutive Director, Culture Ambassador and Liberia’s Traditional Queen, Juli Endee, showered praises on Amb. Wetterqvist, stating that though she has known the Swedish envoy for a little over four years now, and although she was leaving Liberia, Liberians are grateful to have had her as their guest.

“The title and name, Ambassador Ingrid Wetterqvist started to resonate in my mind, when I first heard you speak at a ‘Peace and Development Forum’ held in Sweden in 2018, under the theme: “The Politics of Peace with focus on the need to enhance conflict prevention and sustain the peace,” Amb. Endee said.

She added, “as I knew it, the forum was one of many efforts organized to confront the politics of peace by assessing how different policies and tools could be used to overcome political obstacles to build and sustain peace in complex environments and enhance dialogue, politics, diplomacy and the role of women in such enhancement process.”

“Madam Ambassador, today, we have gathered here to bid you farewell, but not forgetting your invaluable contributions and countless and selfless services rendered Liberia and its people,” Amb. Endee told the outgoing Swedish envoy, adding that that her service to Liberia and Liberians, was very impactful and greatly beneficial, noting that same will always be remembered.

So, as you depart these shores of our sweet land of liberty, Liberia, we want to encourage you to continue serving humanity as a ‘Goodwill Ambassador’ for Liberia’s peace and development by leading the advocacy on the need to advance the role and empowerment of women in Liberia, as well as the country’s infrastructural development, with keen attention on roads connectivity, complementing the efforts of His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia,” Amb. Endee noted.

In response, outgoing Swedish Ambassador Wetterqvist intoned that she was grateful for the honor bestowed on her, pointing out that it was enormous, taking into consideration that her tour of duty was her first mission as an ambassador for her country.
