Grand Gedeh Country Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue is calling on the plenary of the Liberian Senate to outsource the John F. Kennedy Hospital (JFK) due to their inability to care for patients.

Speaking in plenary on Thursday, January 19, 2023, during session, Senator Pennue said despite the huge amount of money placed in the budget for JFK Hospital, there will be no result from the hospital.

Grand Gedeh Senator said all doctors working at hospitals are drugstore owners, and that is where all medicines are taken.

“For example there is no where you serving as Pro-Temp of Senate and your wife is the head of JFK, the power there has shadow lot of people and nothing working there,” he said.

According to him, a lot of the private clinics are owned by nurses and doctors working at JFK Hospital, and they are only there for the money.

Senator Pennue said once the money approves by legislature through the budget, that money is now taken to their private clinics.

“I was sick the last time Pro-Tempore and JFK Hospital sent me to another clinic to do my laboratory test,” Grand Gedeh said.

He said those in top positions at the hospital are people with connections in government, and the original people are the ones suffering from what is going on at JFK Hospital.

Grand Gedeh Senator further said it necessary that government outsource hospital for citizens of Liberia to get proper health treatment.

Senator Pennue said if the government even put millions of dollars in the 2023 national budget, there would still be no change at JFK Hospital.
