AS LIBERIANS GEAR up for crucial elections tomorrow, it is imperative for all citizens to prioritize peace and harmony above all else. The forthcoming elections mark a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey, and it is crucial that we embrace the spirit of unity and tranquility.
WHILE WE ADMONISH the electorate to remain peaceful before, during and after the elections, we are also constrained to urge the National Elections Commission (NEC) to ensure that people with special needs are prioritized.
THESE INCLUDE- PEOPLE with disabilities, pregnant women and old people. The National Elections Commission (NRC)must do all it can to ensure that they are given special preference to vote.
AS THE ISSUE of peace remains paramount to these elections, we implore all Liberians to exercise their democratic rights responsibly, fostering an environment of peace, respect, and understanding throughout the electoral process. It’s not a strange story that Liberia has experienced its fair share of challenges and hardships, including a devastating civil war that lasted for years.
ITS A KNOWN fact that the nation has shown remarkable resilience and determination to rebuild and progress. Let us remember the lessons learned from our history and strive to maintain the peace that we have worked so hard to achieve.
DEMOCRACY THRIVES IN an atmosphere of tolerance, respect, and open dialogue. As citizens, it is our responsibility to uphold these values during the electoral process.
LET US ENGAGE in constructive conversations, focusing on the issues that matter most to our nation’s progress. By doing so, we can ensure a fair and transparent election that truly represents the will of the people.
IMPERATIVELY- LIBERIA IS a diverse nation, enriched by its various ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. It is crucial that we celebrate this diversity and recognize its strength. We must reject any form of discrimination or prejudice as we go to the polls as it also has the potential to hinder our collective progress.
VIOLENCE HAS NO place in the democratic process. We must remember that our actions have consequences, and resorting to violence in these processes only undermines the very principles we seek to uphold.
INSTEAD, LET US resolve our differences through peaceful means, especially as political parties have now exhausted the campaign period.
BY PROMOTING NON-VIOLENCE elections, we can ensure a safe and secure environment for all Liberians to exercise their voting rights and subsequently benefit from the outcome of the polls.
MOREOVER, AS THE National Elections Commission (NEC) plays a vital role in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. It is crucial that we trust and support their work, allowing them to carry out their duties without interference or intimidation.
ANY CONCERNS OR disputes should be addressed through legal channels and proper procedures. By respecting the authority of the Electoral Commission, we can maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
SO, AS LIBERIA stands at a critical juncture as it prepares for the elections tomorrow, let us seize this opportunity to demonstrate to the world our commitment to democracy, peace, and unity. By embracing these values, we can pave the way for a brighter future for all Liberians. Together, let us ensure that tomorrow’s elections are marked by peace, respect, and a collective determination to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
