Gifty Brown, the executive auxiliary of the CPP “Think Cummings Movement” has revealed that the CPP is considering filing a writ of mandamus at the supreme court- to compel the National Elections Commission (NEC) to conduct a recount of the presidential ballots.

Speaking Saturday, October 14, 2023, in an interview with WomenVoices Newspaper and other media outlets, the leader of the Think Cummings Movement Gifty Brown, said the CPP is not pleased with the recent preliminary results of their political Leader by the National Elections Commission (NEC).

“We are not going to let this slide under the carpet, we are going to ensure that a recount is conducted on the presidential ballot.”

This is also because they believe that the National Elections Commission (NEC) is exhibiting acts of electoral fraud, especially when it comes to their political leader.

“The body language of the NEC boss has the propensity to trigger violence, My auxiliary came out in their numbers to vote Cummings but most of those polling places are reporting zero, one and two votes for Cummings. Even where I and my family went to vote. That tells me that I, Gifty Brown who heads an auxiliary of tens of thousands of people did not vote, this is alarming,” Miss Brown said.

She continued by stating that Mr. Cummings’ preliminary results so far are alarming, as she believes it is impossible for a major political party who campaigned throughout not to attain a desirable amount of votes.

Furthermore- she argues that the votes of the CPP are being given out and in her opinion- it shows that there are huge irregularities in the announcement of provisional results.

“The preliminary results of the NEC are alarming. There is no way that a major political party who ran campaign in all the fifteen counties can come up with said number of votes. The results are coming and the math is not adding up, so we will not sit quietly and allow it.”

Moreover, Gifty Brown warned the NEC not to take the quietude of the CPP as weakness, or to provoke them. She says the CPP does not want trouble, though guns are not sounding, but the nation is already at war economically.

Therefore, the party does not want anything that will take Liberia back to the dirk days.

“Don’t take our quietude for weakness, do not provoke us, because the body language that is coming from NEC has the propensity to incite violence. Though guns are not sounding, we are at war economically. We are at war against hunger. We the CPP does not want anything that will take Liberia back to the dirk days.

Therefore, the NEC must not trigger violence.”

Meanwhile, she urged the opposition community and Liberians in general to hold on and not engage in any act that will trigger violence.

Therefore, she called on the NEC, through its chairperson Davidetta Brown Lansanah, not to ruin the peace of Liberia by allowing herself to be influenced to announce contradicting results that won’t reflect the actual votes.

“We had a peaceful elections, and we want a peaceful result, so I caution opposition leaders, and Liberians in general to hold and not engage in any act of violence that will ruin the peace we enjoy today. But do not be silent, address everything that has the propensity to derail our peace. Let the NEC be warned that the elections has the ability to take country backward. Our country future is at stick. So, the NEC must not allow herself to be influenced to announce a contradicting results that doesn’t reflect the actual votes.”
