…Coleman terms New Republic’s recent publication linking him to criminality

The Inspector General of Police Designate, Gregory Coleman has refuted the New Republic Newspaper’s February 1, 2024 edition linking him to criminality by describing it as false and misleading.
On January 22, 2024, after the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Coleman was nominated among the first by President Joseph N. Boakai as Inspector General of Police replacing IG Patrick Sudue.
Coleman served as IG of police during the last quarter of former President Johnson Sirleaf.
In the New Republic Newspaper February 1, 2024 edition, Coleman is being accused of engaging in acts of criminality, specifically that wrought by the Cee family of Thinker Village along the RIA highway, regarding a parcel of land that led to the death of a former lawmaker.
When contacted by the IG designated, he explained that the video clip circulating on social media shows an elderly lady being interviewed in Grand Bassa by another person whose image was not reflected in the video clip.
“A video clip circulating on social media shows an elderly lady being interviewed in Grand Bassa by another person whose image did not reflect in the video clip. At a point, the exchange reflected that the video was made up when the lady disagreed with her interviewer who doubled as interpreter,” he noted.
He further that: “one wonders if there is a motive behind the allegations against me since the Cee’s family could seek redress in court,” Coleman asserted.
It is not clear as to whether the recent allegations against President Boakai IG of Police designate are politically motivated. An investigation into this matter included visitation to the community in which the alleged accident took place but community dwellers refuted the allegation of the involvement of police officers assigned to the community to scare away Cee’s family.
Speaking based on anonymity, two residents separately explained that police were never on the site to scare away Cee’s family.
“We can tell you for a fact that at no point in time were police officers assigned in this community to scare away the Cee’s family, one of the anonymity noted.”
Meanwhile, the event will take place at Sharkey’s Business Center on the Airfield in Sinkor.
