President Joseph Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Kounghave tested negative for narcotic substances and other forms of illicit drugs. 

As promised during his State of the Nation Address, President Boakai and Vice President Koung were on Wednesday afternoon tested for illicit drugs by doctors in Monrovia. 

According to the tests results, Mr. Boakai and Mr. Koung tested negative for marijuana, cocaine, morphine and ecstasy along other harmful substances. 

Speaking after the pronouncement of the results, President Boakai said his action was a demonstration of his commitment to lead the fight against illicit drugs and harmful substances in Liberia.

He assured that he will continue to lead by example, adding that he cannot subject people to what he does not believe.

The President furthered that he remains steadfast with his commitments to the Liberian people, promising to declare his assets on tomorrow, February 8, 2024.
