Electoral district seven Representative, Foday Fahnbulleh, has vowed to use his Legislative authorities to ensure China Union live up to its cooperate social responsibilities with his constituency and Liberia by extension.

Fahnbulleh said for too long concession companies have operated in Liberia with little or no benefits to citizens in affected communities, something he described as a contributing factor to the underdevelopment of the Country.

He noted that concession agreements are intended to augment government’s development plans, and such can only be done when lawmakers make use their oversight responsibility.

Fahnbulleh said he will make consistent use of the rule of laws in order for China Union Concession to deliver on the Mineral Development Agreement it signed with the government of Liberia in 2009.

According to Fahnbulleh, the 2009 MDA among other things mandates China Union to renovate all existing roads in its operation area, make available US$250,000 annually in scholarship funds for students of the communities, improve health and school facilities in Fuamah, as well as 70% of employment for citizens within the most senior positions in ten years, an agreement the Company has allegedly thwarted.

The district seven lawmaker stated he will continue to get engaged with his colleagues in the 55th Legislature for until China Union can provide the people of district seven their just benefits inline with the Mineral Development it signed with Liberia.
