The Africa Women Summit, a platform that was birthed out of a deep desire to uplift and empower women in Africa, Liberia’s Chapter has been officially launched.

Liberia’s Chapter of the trailblazing platform was launched on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Corina Hotel in Sinkor, Tubman Boulevard. The launch of the platform merged with the installation of its officials and a fundraising dinner.

Africa Women Summit is a platform that kindles the spirit of empowerment, collaboration, and progress for women across the African continent. Since its inception in 2018, the platform has consistently brought together extraordinary women from diverse backgrounds, fields, and countries to foster meaningful connections, drive impactful conversations, and facilitate transformative change.

While proxing on behalf of the First Lady, KartumuBoakai as the Keynote Speaker, Madam MacDellaCooper, Political Advisor to President Joseph NyumaBoakai, described the occasion as more than just a formal event. “It’s a demonstration of the relentless spirit of African women in their resilience and abundance potential to drive change across our beloved continent.”

She acknowledged that the Africa Women Summit provides a crucial platform for African women to unite, strategize, and collaborate. Considering the women’s movement platform, Madam Cooper encouraged the need for them to strongly consider addressing maternal health. “Particular for the disadvantaged young girls in our ghettos. These young women face immense challenges. We must ensure that they receive the care, support, and opportunities they need to strive,” she said.

Madam Cooper urged, “I encourage all of you to persist in your invaluable work with unwavering dedication. Together, we must conquer the challenges ahead and strive to create a brighter and more equitable future for all African women and girls. Let’s take this opportunity to make a meaningful impact, ignite change, and establish a legacy of empowerment for future generations,” she rallies the women.

The Keynote Speaker further noted: “Thank you, and I hope to see you all at the African Women’s Summit of Liberia chapter. Let’s be a beacon of hope and progress for our entire continent because Liberia loves Liberia. Together, let’s build a better Liberia. God bless you all.”

As Liberia’s Chapter of the Africa Women Summit coalesced with the installation of its officers, Madam Kebbeh Maryeaheh Kortue was inducted as the President, Linda Karim as Vice President, Miatta Gray as Director of Project, Raphealyn C.N. Bomosy-Forkpa as Accounts Manager, Humpheretta Reid as Secretary, Rachel Doemah as Asst. Secretary, Cllr. Abla Gadegbeku-Williams, as Legal Adviser, Atty Evelyn Barry as Legal Advise and Oretha Bundoo Seh as Public Relations Officer.

In her inaugural address, Madam Kebbeh MaryeahehKortue, the President of the African Women Summit Liberia Chapter said her team endeavors to ensure women’s empowerment, advocacy, building valuable networks, and celebrate the success of African women.

Her words: “Our Liberia Chapter is committed to the following: empowering through education, we will provide access to resources, knowledge, and skills that will empower women to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential through workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs.

The AWSLC President added: “We will advocate for women in politics, and protect gender equity, women’s rights, and social justice. By engaging with policymakers, we aimed to influence decisions that will affect the lives of women and girls across AFRICA.

Kortue: “We will create platforms for women to connect, share their experiences, and collaborate with initiatives that will be able to foster a strong network for all girls and women around the continent.”

Moreover, she said the African Women Summit Liberia Chapter intends to celebrate the success of African women from businesses to academia among other areas. This is pushed by their desire to inspire other African women to dream big.

Africa Women Summit was born out of a deep desire to uplift and empower women in Africa, recognizing their immense potential as catalysts for social, economic, and political transformation. Since its humble beginnings, the platform has grown into a powerful movement, creating opportunities and platforms that unleash the untapped potential of African women.

With each passing year, the Africa Women Summit has transcended borders, making its mark in Nigeria, Dubai, Rwanda, and South Africa. These remarkable destinations have served as backdrops to our dynamic gatherings, where women from all walks of life convene to inspire and be inspired. Our summit has witnessed the presence of over 2,000 women from 40 African countries, establishing it as a truly pan-African movement for change.
