-Due To Termination Of Contracts

Monrovia-More than 80 percent of the redundant players of the National Port Authority Sports Association ( NPASA) have issued an open threat in which they gave the institution a one-week ultimatum to reinstate their contracts.
The aggrieved former players reached their decision in Monrovia recently after officials didn’t show out for a meeting planned and called by the port management.
It can be recalled on April 13, 2024, NPASA terminated the contract of all its players with the intent to reinvest and prepare the team for the new league season.
“I present my compliments and write to have you all informed that due to the poor performance of the NPA Anchors Monrovia, the NPA leadership has decided to rebrand the team”. This move is sorely intended to reinvest and rebrand the team ahead of the new league season.
“Given the aforesaid, you are hereby declared free agents after your April pay,” the communication said.
The Port Boys were relegated to the second division following a poor campaign during the Liberia Football Association 2023/2024 league season.
The club collected five points from 24 matches with two draws and one win.
Speaking to this paper under anonymity, one of the players said a club cannot cancel the contracts of football players based on poor performance.
“Let me state that a club cannot terminate the contract of a player based on performance – which is subjective and injuries as well. A just course must be clearly defined and accepted by the tribunal,” he said.
Another player also vowed to drag the NPA leadership to the Liberia Football Association ( LFA) if nothing is done in the coming days.
