The Arise Impact Initiative, in collaboration with the Awake Book Club, officially launched a high school student adolescent reading challenge on June 7, 2024, at the Book before Boy Learning Center on Front Street in Monrovia, Liberia.

The goal of the book reading challenge is to promote literacy, critical thinking, and writing skills among high school students, while also fostering a love for reading and research.

During the launch, the Deputy Director for Administration, National Commissioner on Higher Education, Rev. Monen Duoe, emphasized the importance of high school students dedicating 30 minutes each week to reading to enhance their reading skills, mental well-being, critical thinking, and writing abilities.

Rev. Monen Duoe stressed the significance of instilling a love for reading and writing in students, as well as the importance of developing strong communication and logical thinking skills.

The Executive Director of Arise Impact Initiative, Madam Wilnet S.Z. Gaye, highlighted the organization’s commitment to enhancing the reading, writing, and research skills of young students through the Book Reading Challenge. The ten-week program aims to engage students in research, reading, and critical writing activities, with mentorship and guidance provided throughout.

Madam Gaye emphasized the role of the initiative in inspiring students to cultivate a passion for reading and research, ultimately contributing to their academic and personal growth. The program also aims to empower adolescents and women through education, mentorship, and advocacy.

The Book Reading Challenge serves as a platform for encouraging students to improve their literacy and critical thinking skills, ultimately creating a generation of informed and motivated individuals. By investing in the education and empowerment of youth, Arise Impact Initiative is working towards building stronger, more resilient communities in Liberia.
