The National Youth League of the Coalition for Democratic Change is demanding justice in the alleged killing of two CDCians by the opposition Unity Party in Foya, Lofa County.

Recently, the nation witnessed a serious electoral violence between hundreds of citizens believed to have come from both the ruling CDC and opposition Unity Party.

This situation saw the brutal killings of two citizens believed to be supporters of the ruling CDC, as their paraphernalia was displayed in several video footages on social media and several injured.

Since the incident, the National Executive Committee of the CDC had condemned the act and called for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators, as the Liberia National Police also disclosed that at least 27 persons in connection with the act have been arrested and being investigated.

However, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, thousands of the CDC Youth League led by their National Chair Emmanuel Mulbah Johnson, petitioned the Ministry of Justice, the ECOWAS Commission and the U.S. Embassy near Monrovia to look into the matter.

Speaking at the various institutions, Mr. Johnson alleged that the partisans of the CDC are been killed on a daily basis under the instruction of former Vice President and standard bearer of the UP, Joseph Boakai.

He recounted the gruesome murder of Tamba Momoh and Emmanuel Varkpana – the duo killed in the Foya District, Lofa County electoral violent clash.

The CDC Youth League arrowhead added that Aloysious Barh was also reportedly killed in Nimba County by supporters of the UP strongman and his vice standard bearer.

“We’re deeply concerned that the Unity Party has spoken loudly and clearly through its standard bearer, Joseph N. Boakai and former warlords, Yekeh Korlubah ,Prince Johnson, Joshua Milton Blahyi (General Butt Naked), Senators Darius Dillion and Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence threatening war if the elections do not go their way,” Johnson stressed.

He considered those threatening statements made by Ambassador Boakai and his associates as a sharp reminder of Radio Kigali.

Mr. Johnson said, “The youth league is disappointed with the muted bare minimum response coming from state investigators, civil society actors and the international community most especially the vague and indistinct U.S Embassy statement.

The CDC Youth League believes that in the midst of this unfortunate tragedy just a few days to national elections, the main perpetrators are still roaming the streets, being welcomed into the polite conversation and civilized society in open disregard of their gruesome killing of innocent CDCians.

As part of the petition, Emmanuel Mulbah Johnson recommended that Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai be held responsible for any violence that emanates out of the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

He emphasized that this includes any potential retaliation to actions that the former VP’s evil words precipitate.

At the same time, the CDC National Youth League Chair has called on the United States government to deny U.S entry to all individuals instigating violence including the standard-bearer of the Unity Party, Joseph N. Boakai.

Emmanuel Mulbah Johnson also called on the Joint Security to invite everyone of interest, including the Unity Party candidate Francis S. Nyumali for reportedly organizing a group of militias that are terrorizing and killing innocent Liberians in Lofa that support the CDC.
