The Consortium of Rubber Sector Actor of Liberia says it has no confidence in the Minister of Agriculture Alexander Nuetah to serve as Chair on the investigation committee set up by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to probe the ongoing Rubber saga.

Therefore, they want the president to revoke his appointment as chair of the committee.

The rubber planters noted that the action of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai is a provocation considering that a similar committee comprising the same group of people was set up and they are yet to get the findings.

According to CORSAL, Minister Neutah has been conflicted by expressing his support for the ban in favor of Businessman Jetty.

It can be recalled, that former President George Weah placed a ban on the exportation of unprocessed Rubber using Executive Order #124 before his defeat, a ban that is still in force.

As a result of the ban, a group of smallholder rubber farmers under the banner; Consortium of Rubber Sector Actors of Liberia has since been calling for the lifting of the; nothing that the ban has placed untold sufferings on the farmers.

Speaking at a News conference over the weekend, the Chairman of the smallholder rubber farmers, James Sayekea noted that Minister Nuetah had been compromised to give his support to Businessman, Jetty. 

Sayekea noted that they are aware of the strategies being deployed by the Agriculture Minister and the Rubber Planter Association of Liberia (RPAL) by gathering non-rubber farmers to give the impression to the public that the farmers are happy with the ban; something they described as high this level of deception and a comical venture.

The committee set up by the President consists of Agriculture Minister, Alexander Nuetah as, Chairman, Commerce Minister Hon. Amin Modad, Justice Minister, Hon. N. Oswald Tweh, NIC Chairman Hon. Jeff Blibo, and Economic Advisor to the President Hon. Sahr Jonny. 

The group registered that on March 11, 2024, CORSAL met with the first batch of the same officials of government as a committee then set up by the President and chaired by Minister Amin Modad, Minister of Commerce to probe into the issue of Executive order No. 124 in which they made their case and provided proposals on how government could raise more revenue once the rubber trade subscribes to the principles of Free Market for the expansion of the sector.
