A young Liberian politician and ex-representative aspirant, Samuel Jacob, has officially joined the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in a quest to support the reelection of President George Weah.

This comes days after the President’s second term bid was recommitted to and fully endorsed by over 50 lawmakers from both houses of the 54th National Legislature.

The former Montserrado County electoral district #6 Representative aspirant joined the CDC late Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)’s headquarters in Congo Town.

In a statement committing his leadership to the party, Mr. Jacob said his decision was critically analyzed, and his analysis admonished that his decision was genuine.

According to him, his joining the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is intended to reawaken and rebrand the president’s quest for a second term.

He referenced the government’s efforts in education, health, security, infrastructure, and other cardinal sectors as some of the many reasons that prompted his interest in joining the ruling party.

Not just as a person, Samuel Jacob said he’s coming over to the party with more supporters and ideas that will straighten the president’s agenda.

However, he believes the Unity Party of the present day is not engulfed with a positive motive to change Liberia’s lives.

Jacob sees the opposition Unity Party (UP) as an association of disparate politicians who want to return to state power to satisfy their personal aggrandizement.

With the current path of the Weah administration, he believes the government is on the right path and the president’s reelection is certain.

He admonished Liberians and supporters of the party to disregard personal dissatisfaction with the president and support his vision for the country.

Upon his arrival in the party, he came along with ex-supporters of the opposition ANC and a few other parties.

As mandated by CDC tradition, Mr. Samuel Jacob was commissioned into the party and formally welcomed.

On behalf of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)’s leadership, the party’s Secretary General Jefferson T. Koijee expressed excitement about Mr. Jacob’s decision.

He extended honor to Mr. Jacob and expressed his commitment and support for him and the other individuals that joined the party.

Koijee sees Mr. Jacob’s decision as a genuine one and a significant moment for the party, considering how instrumental Mr. Jacob has been in impacting knowledge among hundreds of people in Liberia and his obedience as a peaceful citizen.

The CDC Secretary General hailed Mr. Jacob for his wisdom and noted that he’s inspired by his knowledge and impact on society.

He described the young politician’s coming to the CDC as not one that’s prompted by a desire to gain but as a major impact for the party.

This was displayed by Mr. Jacob’s offer of LRD 100,000 for supporters of the party for brief refreshment, 20 scholarships for young people of the party in technical skills, and other things.

He thanked Jacob for his decision to join the party and urged Liberians not to risk their freedom and foster hardship by supporting or electing the opposition.

Like Jacob, the CDC Secretary General said the opposition Unity Party (UP) is poised with the mindset to return to state power to embezzle public funds.

Mr. Samuel Jacob is an experienced classroom teacher. He contested as a representative in Montserrado County District #6 during the 2017 general elections and also announced his intention to recontest in the district in October.

However, this will not go as earlier announced by Mr. Jacob, as he has officially withdrawn from the process following his entry to the CDC.

He comes to the party along with Ms. Elizabeth Borbor and several others who also expressed their excitement to join the party and assured their commitment to the party’s campaign process.
