NIMBA COUNTY:- The only teacher assigned at the Teah Zaygbaplay Public School in Gblan Clan, Nimba County Electoral District #4, says the lack of teachers and the deplorable condition of the school building are factors impeding students learning at the school.
Madam Irene Blay said due to the lack of teachers, the school that was once a full-fledged elementary school has dropped to fourth grade.
Madam Blay noted that as the only teacher at the school, she is forced to teach from grade 4, something she stated she has been doing for the past four years.
She serves the institution as its principal, registrar, and classroom teacher, a workload she termed as “tedious and stressful.”
Madam Blay is constrained to cope with the conditions but believes that impacting education for school-going children of the community is the best way forward for the next generation and to improve the growth and development of the town.
Commenting on the structure hosting the institution, the Teah Zaygbaplay Public School Principal, who also serves as the registrar and classroom teacher, said during the rainy season, the school could be partially closed when there is heavy rainfall because of the leakage of the roof.
She then called on education authority in Nimba County and electoral district 4 lawmaker Ernest Manseah to exert efforts in ensuring that additional teachers are assigned to the school and the building is reconstructed so as to provide a decent learning environment for school-going kids in the town.
