Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, who leads Liberia’s participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, has expressed her excitement and commended the Commissioner General for the Expo, Ambassador Queen Juli Endee, for her outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication.
Minister Nyanti praised Ambassador Endee and her team for their hard work, creativity, and commitment, stating that their efforts have placed Liberia in a strong position among the 164 countries participating in the Expo.
Speaking on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Foreign Ministry, where she met with Ambassador Endee and her team, Minister Nyanti revealed that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai will deliver a keynote address at the opening of Africa Day at the Expo. She emphasized that Liberia’s participation has the potential to create new job opportunities and economic benefits for Liberians.
The Foreign Minister highlighted that Expo 2025 in Osaka will open doors for bilateral and multilateral economic diplomacy, strengthening Liberia’s relationships with other participating nations. She further stressed that the Expo will present significant investment opportunities, facilitate business engagements, and promote women’s participation in economic development. Additionally, she underscored the importance of national rebranding, stating that it is crucial for showcasing Liberia’s rich heritage and forward-thinking initiatives to the global audience.
Minister Nyanti also encouraged the Liberian business community to collaborate with the Ministry of Commerce to ensure increased participation in the Expo. She urged local businesses to seize the opportunity to showcase their products and services for greater economic rewards.
Addressing the Foreign Minister during the meeting, Ambassador Endee assured her that Liberia’s participation in the Expo is on track, with significant progress already made. She informed Minister Nyanti that Expo offices have been fully established in Monrovia, and a One-Stop-Shop has been opened to facilitate coordination. She further noted that Liberia’s Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Edward W. Appleton, along with representatives from key ministries and agencies, participated in the opening ceremony of the One-Stop-Shop.
Ambassador Endee emphasized that her office is working closely with all relevant government ministries, agencies, and the Liberia Business Association. She also noted that the public has been kept informed through a press briefing by the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT), ensuring transparency and awareness about the Expo’s progress, significance, and benefits. She reassured Minister Nyanti that Liberia’s participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka will be a resounding success.
The World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, is set to take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025, at Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay. The event, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” focuses on shaping a sustainable and inclusive future through three sub-themes: “Saving Lives,” “Empowering Lives,” and “Connecting Lives.”
Liberia has chosen the sub-theme “Saving Lives” and will present an exhibition titled “Creativity, Innovation, Investment, and Gender Equality.” This strategic alignment reflects Liberia’s commitment to advancing the President’s ARREST Agenda by promoting empowerment, economic opportunities, trade, unity, and peace. Through this platform, Liberia aims to achieve financial success, foster international partnerships, and showcase its rich cultural heritage, tourism potential, and investment opportunities.
