– LAGMA President Advocates for Local Industry

Monrovia, Liberia – The President of the Liberia Association of Gospel Musical Artists (LAGMA), Ambassador Miracle A. Kettor, has called for greater support for Liberian gospel artists, urging pastors, fans, and media promoters to prioritize homegrown talent over foreign music.
Speaking at LAGMA’s Merit Awards ceremony held at Monrovia Christian Fellowship in Sinkor, Amb. Kettor emphasized the need for unity and encouragement within the gospel music industry.
“Criticism alone does no good—support our artists, promote them on your platforms, and let their work shine,”** she urged. **”Many ministers die with smiles, but we must ensure they live with dignity and appreciation.”
Kettor challenged radio gospel promoters to play more Liberian gospel songs to strengthen the local industry.
She admonished fellow musicians to avoid division, stating, “Selfishness is non-profitable; we must stand as one family.” Upcoming artists were advised to honor their seniors, acknowledging their foundational role in the industry. Kettor expressed willingness to reconcile with pastors if needed, aiming to foster a more supportive gospel music community.
The ceremony, heavily attended by Bong County gospel ministers, also carried a somber tone as members mourned the passing of former LAGMA artist, Minister Dennis Tarr (The Solid Rock Man).
Several artists were honored for their contributions, including:
– LAGMA Artist of the Year: Minister Simeon Davis
– Best Legendary Artist: Minister Diana David
– Best Solo Artist: Minister Odester Kokollie
– Best Male Vocalist: Minister Paul K. Hennie
Amb. Kettor concluded by thanking international sponsors for their financial support, which has helped elevate LAGMA’s mission. She presented flowers as a token of appreciation, reinforcing the importance of collective effort in advancing Liberian gospel music.
