-Nimba Superintendent assures

NIMBA COUNTY — The newly appointed now confirmed Superintendent of Nimba County, Kou Meapeh Gono has vowed to effect transformation in the county governance system.

Appearing before the Liberian Senate Committee on Internal Affairs confirmation hearing on Monday, Madam Gono stressed the lack of development and social services in Nimba, promising to adequately utilize funding intended for County and Social Development Funds aimed to address huge challenges citizens are faced with in the county.

Madam Gono pointed out that she would hold robust stakeholder engagements with the locals to promote reconciliation in Nimba.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Liberian Senate Committee on Internal Affairs confirmed Madam Kou Meapeh Gono as Nimba County’s next Superintendent and several other presidential appointees to various governmental positions of Liberia’s ruling Unity Party government of President Joseph Boakai.

Madam Gono replaces outgoing controversial superintendent Nelson Korquoi whose administration was mired by massive corruption allegations and the sale of the county’s properties.

She further vowed to request for the conduct of an audit to promote accountability and transparency.

During her confirmation hearing, Madam Kou Meapeh Gono outlined that development uncertainty and the alleged massive corruption saga in the outgoing County administration a few years ago were daunting, especially with the inability of people in leadership at the time.

She however committed herself to take a proactive approach to prioritize development and improve flexible working relationships with collaborators for better Nimba County.

The newly confirmed Nimba County Superintendent further said flexible working relationships remain a key strategy to achieve improve work productivity in the county.

Creating a flexible workplace in achieving challenges in the Nimba’s development progress, the county’s female superintendent stressed the unique need to figure out ways for cordial working relationship to take the county through a transformative change.

The youthful female superintendent of Nimba County reemphasized her support for youth development through education and women empowerment programs.
