President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to building a nation based on the principles of peace, justice, and accountability.
Officially launching the Liberia 2024 Investment Conference at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf – EJS – Ministerial Complex in Oldest Congo Town, held under the theme, โWinds of Change: Leveraging Private Sector Investment to Spur Growth and Developmentโ, the Liberian leader asserted that Liberia has abundant natural resources and fertile soil. Therefore, it is reasonable for the Liberian people to demand that resources be used to build a country of which all are proud.
“My commitment has been and continues to be the building of a nation based on the principles of peace, justice, and accountability for our actions. Liberia is blessed with abundant natural resources and fertile soil. It is not unreasonable for the Liberian people to demand that our resources be used to build a country of which we can all be proud.”
President Boakai intimated that through partnerships with investors and development partners, Liberians are already on the right path to building a nation that all can be proud of internationally. The president continued emphasizing that Liberia is richly endowed with natural resources that span a wide range of sectors worthy of investment, including mining, agriculture, tourism, energy, infrastructure, and others.
“Today, we can proudly declare that investment opportunities are not only substantial and impressive, but also promise substantial rewards. We continue to emphasize that Liberia is richly endowed with natural resources. These resources span a wide range of sectors worthy of investment, including mining, agriculture, tourism, energy, infrastructure, and more.”
He further asserted that in agriculture, Liberia has rich terrain and abundant water. And that Liberia is an excellent destination, as it is blessed with an abundance of diverse and rare species of wood. He added that it offers tremendous opportunities in the agriculture sector. Sharing his perspective as a former Minister of Agriculture, the president asserted that it is with no equivocation that Liberia is ideal for varied agricultural products such as rice, cassava, and corn, among others.
In furtherance, President Boakai added that Liberia’s tourismsector is also very promising, adding that with over 4,300 miles of coastline, the country offers beautiful beaches, perfect for activities such as surfing. He said pristine forests and abundant wildlife make Liberia an ideal destination for ecotourism. In conclusion, the President added that in years past, aside from the war, corruption, and bureaucratic red tape have stifled investment and robbed the government. He committed that the government under his administration has chosen to lead by example. And will have no tolerance for theft and graft of public property.
He therefore assured all potential investors and Liberians that every cent undertaken to invest in Liberia would be fully protected. “My Government has chosen to lead by example. And in line with the dictates of the life we have lived for ourselves, with no tolerance for theft and graft of public property, we have waged a war on these vices. Accordingly, I assure you all that every cent you undertake to invest in Liberia will be fully protected.” He reassures investors that their investments will be secure, stable, and profitable on Liberian soil.
