The Liberia National Police has arrested Sembeh Borhay, who is facing charges for allegedly impersonating Minister Sylvester M. Grigsby, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs. Borhay has been forwarded to court following an investigation into his fraudulent activities.

The arrest took place on December 30, 2024, after Emmanuel Jallah filed a complaint on behalf of Minister Grigsby. The investigation uncovered that Borhay, along with an accomplice, Cyrus Doe, orchestrated a criminal scheme involving the creation of fake Facebook and WhatsApp accounts. Through these accounts, they solicited $13,000 from victims in exchange for government appointments.

The scheme unraveled when Prince Tamba, Deputy Minister for Operations at the Ministry of Public Works, fell victim to the defendants. They extorted over $15,000 from him, claiming that Minister Grigsby required funds for his office staff during the festive season. When Minister Tamba attempted to deliver the money to Mary Matthew, Grigsby’s chief of staff, the defendants instructed him to refrain from doing so.

During questioning, Borhay denied any wrongdoing, asserting that it was Cyrus Doe who directed him to collect the money on Old Road. As of now, Doe remains at large.

Borhay has been charged with theft of property, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation, and is currently awaiting trial. The investigation continues as authorities seek to apprehend his accomplice.
