… Minister Piah Expresses Willingness To Work with Amb. Endee

The Minister of Information Culture and Tourism Jerolinmeck Matthew Piah has expressed willingness to work with all stakeholders in the culture sector, especially cultural ambassador Julie Endee, to transform Liberia’s culture to level where it will be accepted domestically and internationally.
He believes Ambassador Endee’s expertise must be used to revive Liberia’s National Culture Troop.
“We should use her expertise to revive our national culture troop.”
Minister Piah who took office officially as minister of information culture and tourism on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 stated that there is a need for all culture institutions in Liberia, the council of elders, traditional leaders and culture organizations to work collaboratively in order to design a structure that would transform Liberia’s culture.
“I need all culture institutions in Liberia.
The council of elders, traditional leaders and culture organizations in order to design a structure for the production of Liberia domestically and internationally.”
Adding that, collaborative efforts attract investors and promote development, peace and security.
Therefore, urged all Liberian to collaborate in promoting the cultural dignity of the nation.
Minister Piah added that there is a need to use the expertise of culture ambassador Julie Endee to help revive Liberia National culture.
In furtherance, he asserted that it is because of ambassador Endee expertise that she is being hated politically.
“Politics is in everything in our country.
But we need to give attention to things base on what they are.
Who amongst you will question the individual and smartness of ambassador Julie Endee?
She was not appointed to government position, operating base on government budget, receiving salary.
She is an honorary stawart, a little be stored on her by president Taylor. Saying, “You are the culture ambassador of our country.” they were two, gospel ambassador Marion Cassell and culture ambassador Julie Endee. But I don’t hear a lot about the gospel ambassador but always Julie Endee.
Is it because of her innovation and creativities?” Minister Piah said.
Minister Piah continued by committing to ensure that culture has a home.
Adding that culture is the fundamental priority of the ministry of information.
Additionally, he stated that the ministry under his leadership will work on strategic plan to attract tourist to Liberia through the establishment of the national tourism authority.
“In addition to promoting the culture of our country, we are creating a strategic plan to attract tourists to our country. The establishment of the national tourism authority.”
Further stating that he has the support of the executive and Legislature to effectively transform the communication, culture and tourism sector of Liberia.
“I have been to the speaker, Pro-TemPro, and they all assured me “We will support government communication.
I have no reason to doubt them because the story must change.
You cannot have people working at the ministry of information making $40, while senior government officials making sufficient salary to take care of their family.
They took need to take care of the family and live a better life.” Said, Minister Piah.
Meanwhile, the former minister of information Julious L. Rennie urged the executive and Legislature not as an arm for propaganda, but as an institution to transform Liberia through multi-media dynamics that will promote national development.
Adding that it is his anticipation that the ministry will get the needed support in making it what it ought to be.
“Look at the media not as an activity but as an institution to enhance national development.
Hope this time around the ministry gets the support for the kind of thing that is needed to do.
We can as the government does not tell the story 48 hours after the news has been broken, when others are breaking the news in 24 hours.”
In furtherance, the workers at the ministry of Information Culture and Tourism vowed to support minister Piah in the efficient implementation of the ministry mandate in keeping with the national agenda.
