-Charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault

NIMBA COUNTY — The Crime Service Division of the Liberia National Police in Ganta, Nimba County has charged and sent to court, the chief accountant of Nimba University, Daniel N. Tokpah who allegedly cut off a lady hand for passing in her yard.
On Sunday, April 7, 2024, in the Jacob Town Community, Ganta City the accountant of Nimba University gruesomely attacked, chopped, and cut one of the hands of a lady known as Jessica Davis Wondah while in route passing in the suspect yard the market.
The reasons behind Suspect Tokpah’s action are yet unknown, but residents of Jacob Town Community told WOMENVOICES newsman that the suspect is in the habit of attacking community residents with cutlasses for passing in his yard.
Daniel Tokpa, 50s, allegedly chopped and cut the lady’s hand, and stabbed her multiple times for passing in his yard as the victim was seeking treatment at the Ganta Methodist Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Crime Service Division of the Liberia National Police Ganta, Nimba County on Tuesday charged and forwarded to the 8th Judicial Circuit Court in Sanniquellie suspect Daniel N. Tokpah with criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault in violation of section 14.20 and 10.1 of penal code of the Republic of Liberia.
The fatal attack on the victim shows her left hand cut laying on the ground as she was rescued and taken to hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment.
In the aftermath of the horrific incident, an angry crowd set Tokpah’s house on fire and called for his death.
Daniel Nya Tokpah is however arrested, charged, and remanded to the Sanniquellie Central Prison waiting for court’s trial at the 8th Judicial Circuit Court in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County.
