Liberia’s former Vice President, Jewel Howard Taylor, has expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the women who have recently been appointed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
Out of 79 appointments so far, President Boakai has appointed 57 men and 22 women. Former Vice President Taylor, an advocate for women’s empowerment and gender equality, appears delighted to witness the progress Liberia has made in embracing diversity and inclusivity in its government.
She wished the women well in their endeavors, as she’s hopeful that they would serve well in their respective areas. The former Vice President acknowledged that gender parity in leadership positions is vital for the overall development and prosperity of any nation.
In her opinion, their presence in leadership roles will help amplify the voices of women, address gender-specific issues, and promote equality in all spheres of Liberian society.
Jewel Howard Taylor emphasized the milestone achieved, recognizing the invaluable contributions women have historically made to Liberia’s progress. She expressed her hope that their appointments would yield the needed results, demonstrating that no position or sector should be limited based on gender.
Furthermore, the former vice president urged the appointed women to remain resolute and dedicated while carrying out their responsibilities. She encouraged them to draw on their expertise, build strong networks, and actively contribute to the formulation and implementation of policies that prioritize the needs and concerns of all Liberians.
She expressed her optimism that their appointments would serve as a catalyst for women’s empowerment and encourage further progress towards gender equality in the country.
Madam Taylor praised President Boakai’s commitment to enhancing female representation in key decision-making roles, emphasizing that their expertise, experience, and perspectives will contribute significantly to the government’s efforts to address various challenges and drive positive change across Liberia.
