The Judicial Staffers Association on Friday, February 3, 2023, was inducted into office Cllr. Alice Konkpah Sirleaf was its first female president since the formation of the Association.
Delivering her inaugural address, Cllr. Sirleaf stated that the association under her leadership will focus on the welfare and empowerment of staffers of the judiciary through capacity building to prepare staffers for external and internal opportunities for personal development.
At the same time, she urged the judicial staffers to consider their duties in society as pivotal to keeping the peace and security of society. Therefore, she stated that the judiciary is the most important factor of the government.
“As members of the judiciary, you have to keep the peace and security. You have an important role to play in an ultimate, better public governance.”
However, she further urged them to take seriously their role in society, stating that there will be no consideration for anyone who will deliberately neglect their responsibility at the detriment of the judiciary and the country at large.
“This organization stands on the foundation of the judiciary, and we must keep every possible to keep the standers set by the chief justice of the judiciary. We must do our work when we are to do the; no one must think that we will plead for them when they are punished for not doing their work. The primary objective of being here is to work, do your job, and no one will border you.” Cllr. Sirleaf warned.
Meanwhile, she called on every member of the association to have all hands on the desk to ensure the association works with justices to make the Liberian judiciary a better place where justice will be dispense without favor.
At the same time, the chief justice Sie-A-Nyene G Yuoh, in a remark, coincided with the president of the judicial staffers association Cllr. Sirleaf, cautioning staffers of the judiciary to be more proactive on the job, stating that the judiciary under her leadership will not tolerate any unorthodox attitude on the job.
The chief justice called on every staffer at the judiciary to improve on their job respective of their position, stating the judiciary under her leadership will always encourage improvement in the workings of staffers.
“If I come and see you sitting at my door two to three times awaiting direction, then I know you are not able to do the job, then we will have to look within and find someone to do the job.
Most of you know I am down to earth, but if you do not do your job, you and I will have a problem.
I plead with you, for the short time I am here, for the next two and half years I am here all I ask for is DO YOUR JOB.” Justice Yuoh warned.
Justice Yuoh went further warn against indiscipline and immoral acts exhibited on the job by some judicial staffers. She alluded that during one of her office tour, she met a lady who had her two legs on the desk, focusing on her phone, an act she stated was embarrassing and prompted her to ask the lady out of the office and sent her home.
“IF I had come will guest I would have been so embarrassed. I entered an office and was this lady with her barefoot on the desk and all her focus on her phone; I told her that upon wearing her shoes, she should leave.” Justice Yuoh revealed.
Meanwhile, the chief justice admonished every staffer irrespective of their position to be involved in the rebranding of the judiciary, stating that is the last hope for mankind and the peace and security of the nation is bent on the workings of judiciary.
