Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee has confidently refuted claims about his involvement in the importation of arms and other deadly weapons to Liberia and says he imported “police community-friendly materials”.

“We have never ever brought any container with weapons from Israel”, he said, emphasizing that the truth is consistent and his haters should avoid creating myths.

According to him, they did reputable business with Israel, but not as reported.

Emphasizing imported items, he said the city government secured a formal contract to have uniforms for the police, and the consignment only included what he described as “police community-friendly materials”.

He thinks the police are constrained, and as their role is an unending demand, there’s still a need for more of said materials.

In his quest to ensure a decent and vibrant security force, the mayor said he also wants a fire truck and other major equipment for the police.

Moreover, in a bid to authenticate his zero involvement in any such act, Koijee wants the government to invite a US probe into the matter.

Koijee feels confident that City Police Boss Thomas Gawor, whose voice was heard in the leaked audio, was not the one who made the revelation.

He convinced me that the audio was manipulated and engulfed in disinformation and myth.

According to him, since he lost contact with Garwor weeks ago, they have never spoken; as such, he encouraged him to make himself available to make the revelation in the midst of the media, as he assured him of giving him the needed protection.

Koijee continues to suffer grief allegations since the ascendency of the CDC administration, something he has described as a strategy by the opposition to undermine the government, especially considering the fact that he’s one of the strongest pillars of the CDC and the government in general.

He believes people are using disinformation to get rid of the government, but he doesn’t feel distracted by the propaganda, as he alluded to the fact that he owes no propagandist explanation for his decisions and actions.

He sees some of his propagandists as individuals who are frustrated, especially with the government’s progress over the years.

Following the discovery of arms at the Freeport of Monrovia months ago, the Mayor also wants the police to provide updates on the situation, as it is also being linked to the recent allegation against him.

At the same time, the Mayor, along with the Director General of Internal Operations of the Monrovia City Corporation, Prince C. Andrew, said

Major areas are confronting challenges, and the corporation is hoping to receive its budgetary allotment to address waste management across the city.

In the midst of financial constraints and other challenges, they stated that the city government is exploring internal solutions across the city.
