–Aims to Raise Standards in Liberia’s Aviation Sector

Mr. Julius Dennis, Director General of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), has underscored the vital importance of creating a conducive working environment for his team as the agency strives to meet international aviation standards. “When your people have a good working environment, it empowers them to deliver more,” Dennis said, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to both staff welfare and operational excellence.

The LCAA is focused on addressing critical challenges and discrepancies identified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Dennis highlighted the agency’s main objectives: “Our primary goal is to implement the necessary corrective actions and get back on track. We are determined to elevate our effective implementation, ensuring that our airport is fully equipped and meets international standards.”

Dennis stressed that having a world-class airport is essential for attracting airlines and increasing passenger traffic. “To start conversations with airlines and other interested parties, we need an airport that meets international requirements, with all equipment and navigational aids in perfect working order. This is our current focus, and we are optimistic that we will achieve our objectives,” he added.

Despite facing financial constraints, the LCAA has made significant strides in improving the working conditions for its employees. “We used our limited resources to refurbish the building, creating a comfortable environment where our staff can perform at their best,” Dennis explained.

David Fahat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LCAA, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made. “It’s a pleasure to see the transformation here. Not long ago, this facility was incomplete, and to witness the improvements today is truly commendable. I want to congratulate you and your team for your hard work,” Fahat said.

Fahat highlighted the importance of continuous collaboration to further advance the airport’s standards. “This success is the result of teamwork, and it shows that we are moving forward. A busier airport means a busier economy, with more people traveling and more opportunities for growth.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced during the renovation, Fahatremarked, “This building was in a dire state—it was flooded during the rains. But we rolled up our sleeves and made the necessary improvements. We’re not just sitting idly; we are working hard to do what needs to be done for our people.”

The LCAA remains committed to pushing forward, improving the airport’s infrastructure, and creating an environment that meets international aviation standards while ensuring that its employees have the support they need to excel.
