Monrovia, Liberia – The EXPO 2025 Osaka, Japan One-Stop Shop officially opened its doors on March 18, 2025, at the Liberia Crusader for Peace Headquarters on Capitol Bye-Pass in Monrovia. Led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in collaboration with other government ministries, agencies, and the private sector, the initiative aims to prepare Liberia for its participation in the global exposition set to take place in Osaka, Japan, from April 12 to October 13, 2025.
Commissioner General Ambassador Julie Endee, who heads Liberia’s delegation to the EXPO, announced that Liberia is among 164 countries and 25 organizations confirmed to participate in the event, bringing the total number of participants to 186. Liberia’s journey to the EXPO began in 2022, and the country has since secured a place on the International Steering Committee of the World Expo, a significant achievement that underscores Liberia’s active role in the global event.
Ambassador Endee highlighted Liberia’s preparations, including the establishment of a pavilion and office space in Japan. She emphasized the close collaboration with the Liberian Embassy in Japan, which has been instrumental in facilitating logistics, including the arrival of a container carrying materials for Liberia’s exhibition.
“Liberia is ready to showcase its rich culture, investment opportunities, and the achievements of its people on the global stage,” said Ambassador Endee. She expressed gratitude to President Joseph N. Boakai for his unwavering support and to Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti for her leadership in ensuring Liberia’s successful participation.
Liberia’s participation in the EXPO will focus on promoting President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, which emphasizes Agriculture, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism. Additionally, Liberia will shine a spotlight on its women, with a dedicated showcase in the Women’s Pavilion at the EXPO.
Ambassador Endee revealed that Liberian women will be prominently featured, including First Lady Kartumu Boakai, Second Lady Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, and former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Other notable women to be showcased include Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee, Lima Bowie, Miata Formula, and leaders from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender, and the Liberian Federation of Youth.
“We are showcasing women in agriculture, women with disabilities, and young people with disabilities because we believe in gender equality and inclusivity,” Ambassador Endee stated.
Promoting Liberian Products and Culture
Liberia’s pavilion will also highlight the country’s agricultural products, such as coffee, cocoa, and locally produced beverages like Liberian beer and palm wine. Additionally, Liberian arts, crafts, clothing, and cuisine will be on display, offering a taste of the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
Ambassador Endee encouraged Liberian business owners and individuals to take advantage of the One-Stop Shop to register for the EXPO. She announced that Ethiopian Airlines is offering a 20% discount on flights, and the team will assist with visa processing through Ghana, where affordable accommodation has been arranged.
“This is a great opportunity for Liberians to network, empower themselves, and showcase their businesses on a global platform,” she said.
Liberian Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Edwards Appleton, praised the initiative, describing the EXPO as a unique opportunity to promote Liberia’s investment opportunities and cultural heritage. He emphasized that the event aligns with President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda and will help build lasting relationships with Japan and other participating nations.
“This is a moment to sell Liberia to the world,” Ambassador Appleton said. He congratulated Ambassador Endee and her team for their dedication and urged Liberians to seize the opportunity to participate in the EXPO.
