-Rallies GoL to prioritize the safety, security of all individuals
The Liberia Women Forum (LWF) has raised concerns over escalating political tensions in the country, calling for a reduction in inflammatory rhetoric that could further destabilize the nation. In a recent statement, the advocacy group emphasized the detrimental impact of political infighting on the well-being of Liberian citizens, particularly women and children.
As Liberia grapples with heightened political discord and widespread dissatisfaction among its people, the LWF has urged the government to prioritize the safety and security of all individuals, irrespective of their social standing. The organization has implored President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s administration to take swift and decisive action to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Madam Kadi Coleman Porte, President of the Liberia Women Forum, expressed deep concern regarding the current political climate, citing a pervasive sense of tension and grievances across society. While acknowledging the importance of addressing issues for the sake of democracy, Madam Porte strongly condemned divisive speech that could incite violence and deepen societal divisions.
“We, of the Liberia Women Forum, are concerned with the kind of political tension in the country. If you listen to the radio or watch the internet talk shows, you hear a list of grievances from all walks of life”. While all of this is important for our democracy, Madam Porte strongly condemned speech that fosters division among Liberians and has the potential to incite violence.”
The LWF has called upon the international community and civil society organizations to collaborate with the Liberian government in maintaining peace and stability within the nation. Stressing the significance of collective efforts to safeguard Liberia’s peace, Mrs. Porte underscored the urgency of creating an inclusive and harmonious environment for all citizens.
Mrs. Porte reiterated the imperative of protecting Liberia’s peace, stating, “Liberia is all we have, and we must do all we can to preserve the tranquility of our nation.” As the government navigates through its early stages, the LWF remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting stability and addressing grievances constructively for the betterment of Liberian society.

The Liberia Women Forum president is calling on the international community and civil society organizations to join forces to help the government of Liberia in maintain the peace.
“Liberia is all we have, and we must do all we can to protect the peace in our country”, Mrs. Porte concluded.
Meanwhile, the group has embarked on projects to help women improve their lives by providing funds to open small business and to find jobs to sustain themselves. The group also provides scholarships to deserving girls at various schools. One of their most recent projects was to settle the outstanding bills of thirty new mothers at the JFK Maternity Center which allowed them to go home to their families.
