The Leadership of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA), has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interest of Liberian lawyers.

The Liberia National Bar Association seeks to promote access to Justice, legal professional ethics, and effective justice, and enhance fraternal bonds among LNBA members and between the association and Bars of foreign countries.

The BAR in a release issued on Wednesday, June 25, 2024, revealed that it has been invited to participate in two international events on the Rule of Law in both Washington, D. C., United States of America (USA), and Cotonou, Benin Republic respectively. 

And will use the occasion to adequately represent and protect the interest of Liberian lawyers at international conferences to ensure the dignity and integrity of the BAR and all its members are held with high recognition globally.

According to the release, the LNBA National President, Cllr. Sylvester D. Rennie, at the invitation of the World Bank, is currently participating in the Justice and Rule of Lav Global Forum to foster Inclusive and Sustainable Development at the World Bank’s Headquarters in Washington, D. C., USA.

The event is organized by the World Bank’s Governance Global Practice and brings together over 200 partners, leaders, and practitioners from governments, judiciaries, the private sector, academia, civil society, foundations, and other international development organizations working in the areas of justice and rule of law. 

The forum aims to foster dialogue and collaboration within the broad ecosystem of stakeholders to elevate the role of justice and the rule of law as a key driver of development and enhance collective action on justice reform. 

The LNBA Press Release says the World Bank’s organized event will last from June 25 to 26, 2024. In a related development, the Bar is also participating in the general conference of the West African Bar Association (WABA) in Cotonou, Benin Republic. The Bar is being represented by its National Secretary General, Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah. The 2024 Annual Conference WABA takes place from June 25 to 28, 2024.

The Bar says the 2024 Annual Conference of the West African Bar Association is being convened to adopt a new constitution and hold elections for the new corps of officers of WABA.

The two events according to the LNBA’s release, are sponsored by the World Bank and the United Nations Regional Office for West Africa respectively.
