Members of the “Majority Bloc” in the House of Representatives are set to conduct elections for Liberia’s representatives to the ECOWAS Parliament on Tuesday, February 25. The body says the election will be held in accordance with the bloc’s established rules and procedures.

This decision comes after the bloc announced the recall of Liberia’s current representatives to the ECOWAS Parliament, citing concerns over the selection process and alleged non-compliance with ECOWAS protocols. The issue was first raised during a session on Thursday, February 13, by Hon. James Kolleh (Bong County, District #2) and Hon. Johnson Williams (River Gee County, District #3), who called for the immediate withdrawal of the country’s representatives from the regional legislative body.

Candidates vying for the positions have already begun engaging with their colleagues in the House of Representatives to garner support ahead of the election. The newly elected members will replace the current representatives: Hon. Samuel Enders (Montserrado County, District #6), Hon. Moima Briggs-Mensah (Bong County, District #6), and Hon. Taa Wongbe (Nimba County, District #9).

However, it has been hinted that the bloc has not succeeded in recalling the current legislators representing Liberia at the parliament.
