**NIMBA COUNTY** — A tragic incident unfolded in the Underground Community of Sanniquellie City late Monday night, February 18, 2025, when a resident reportedly took his own life using a single-barrel gun, according to local police authorities.

The deceased, identified as Emmanuel Nemah, Sr., allegedly shot himself inside his bedroom at approximately midnight. The Acting Community Chairman of Underground Community, Nenkerwon Kruah, 43, alerted the police after hearing a gunshot from Nemah’s residence.

Upon arriving at the scene, Kruah discovered Nemah lying in a pool of blood with a single-barrel long gun resting on his chest. A team of joint police investigators, led by Superintendent Emmanuel W. Gruasie, soon arrived and secured the firearm. The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by a 15-member coroner’s jury.

Police documented the crime scene and interviewed three family members of the deceased—Pracelia Nemah (the victim’s wife) and his two sons, Emmanuel Nemah, Jr. and Roland Nemah—as persons of interest.

During preliminary investigations, the two sons stated that they were in their room watching a movie at the time of the incident and did not hear any gunshots. They expressed shock upon learning of their father’s death from the community chairman.

Pracelia Nemah, the victim’s wife, recounted that she had been sleeping in their newly constructed house since September 2024, following hernia surgery, with her husband’s consent. She explained that she was awakened by her sister-in-law, Oretha Nemah, who was shouting outside that Emmanuel Nemah, Sr. had killed himself.

Madam Pracelia emphasized that she and her husband had no recent disagreements or conflicts that could have led to such an extreme action.

Superintendent Emmanuel W. Gruasie, head of the police investigation team, confirmed that the case remains under investigation.

This incident marks the seventh reported murder case, including suicides, in Nimba County between January and February 2025.
